All-inclusive hotels in Agadir — chosen in person

Agadir answers a question British holidaymakers ask every January: where do I get a beach, reliable sun and a short flight in midwinter? The city sits on a long crescent of Atlantic sand, sheltered by its headland, and stays warm and bright when the Mediterranean has shut. What surprises people is not the weather — it is the ocean.

Every property below is scored against our 22-point criteria and sold as a package protected under ATOL licence 11211.

Why here

Why Agadir works for all-inclusive

Two reasons, and they reinforce each other. The first is the beach: a long, wide, genuinely sandy crescent with a promenade behind it, unusual in a country better known for mountains and medinas. The second is the season — Agadir works from October to April, precisely when Turkey, Greece and Malta do not, and the resorts along the front are priced for that market. It is a straightforward, good-value beach week rather than a cultural expedition, and does not pretend otherwise.

The shortlist

The hotels we recommend

Five along the bay, from the sensible to the smart. Board basis is confirmed before you pay.

  • All-inclusive · ClubCaribbean Village Agador

A proper all-inclusive club above the bay, and the one I name most often for a first trip. Straightforward, busy in a good way, sensibly priced.

  • Beachfront · AquaparkPickalbatros White Beach Resort

On the front, with water features and a big pool complex. The family choice when children need more than the sea — see our child-friendly hotel selection.

  • Seafront · EstablishedPickalbatros Palais des Roses

One of the longest-standing addresses on the promenade, with beach access and gardens. Reliable rather than fashionable, which is what people want in February.

  • Gardens · ValueLes Dunes d'Or

In gardens a short walk back from the sand, and consistently the best-value week in our Agadir programme.

  • Thalasso · Upper endSofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa

Built around seawater treatment on the beachfront, and why Agadir appears in our spa hotel selection. A different holiday from the clubs above.

At the top end, the Royal Mirage resort holds the beachfront and appears in our selected luxury list; for a club resort in gardens, Valeria Jardin d'Agadir is the alternative.

Location

Where exactly to stay

Agadir is simpler than most resorts because almost everything worth booking sits along one bay. The southern half, nearer the marina and the Kasbah hill, is calmer and better for walking; the centre puts you on the promenade with cafés at the door. A few properties sit back in gardens, trading a sea view for space and price.

Beyond the bay, Taghazout is the surf village up the coast, the port of Essaouira a windier whitewashed port further north, and the city of Marrakech around three hours inland — see our all-inclusive hotels in Marrakech for the city. The full choice sits in our Morocco holiday programme.

Practical

What to know before booking

  • This is the Atlantic, not the Mediterranean. The water is cooler year-round and there is surf — lively rather than the bath-warm, flat sea of Antalya.
  • Flights and transfers. Agadir Al Massira (AGA) is around half an hour from the bay, and your airport transfer is included in every package.
  • Winter is the point. October to April is warm, bright and reliable. Midsummer is pleasant rather than extreme, because the Atlantic keeps the coast cooler than inland Morocco.
  • Drink inclusions are narrower. As across Morocco, expect local beer, wine and spirits within set hours rather than a bar around the clock.
  • Entry and health. No visa is currently required for short British tourist stays, though requirements can change — check the official guidance before departure and arrange travel insurance with medical cover, since a UK GHIC is not valid here.

Financial protection: an Agadir package includes flights, so it is covered by ATOL licence 11211 and the certificate lists each protected element. Services bought without flights are outside the scheme — the detail sits on our ATOL protection page.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about Agadir

Is the sea warm enough to swim in?
Swimmable most of the year but noticeably cooler than the Mediterranean, because this is the open Atlantic. Summer is comfortable; in winter many guests use the hotel pool and treat the beach as a walk.
Is Agadir good for winter sun?
It is the strongest winter-sun option we sell within a four-hour flight. Days are warm and bright from October through April, and the resorts stay open and staffed rather than winding down as Mediterranean hotels do.
How does Agadir compare with Marrakech?
Agadir is a beach holiday; Marrakech is a city break with a pool. Agadir wins on sand, sea air and simplicity. Marrakech wins on culture, food and atmosphere. Many of our guests do three nights in each and get both.
Is there much to do beyond the resort?
A reasonable amount. The promenade is long and pleasant, there is a busy souk, the Kasbah hill gives the view, and day trips run to the Paradise Valley gorges and the argan groves.
Is Agadir suitable for families?
Yes — the beach is wide and sandy, the promenade is easy with a pushchair, and several resorts run aquaparks. Watch the surf with small children and pick a hotel with a proper shallow pool.
