Where to Stay in Turkey: The Complete Resort Guide for 2026

Turkey all inclusive holidays, luxury Turkey holidays, Turkey family resorts, Turkey golf holidays and Turkey couples holidays — all compared honestly in one guide. Belek or Bodrum? Lara or Side? Kemer or Kusadasi? Choosing the wrong resort wastes a perfectly good holiday. This guide gets it right.

9 resorts compared in full · Personal opinion from Thomas, GotoBeach Product Manager · Updated May 2026
All destinations in this guide are bookable through GotoBeach as complete ATOL-protected package holidays — flights from UK airports, hotel and transfers included. Caria Holidays Ltd, ATOL #11211. Low deposits from £30pp.

Turkey all inclusive holidays are, in our honest assessment, the best value beach holidays available to UK travellers anywhere in the world right now. Turkey welcomed over 56 million international visitors in 2024 — and a significant share of them came from the UK, drawn by outstanding five-star all inclusive resorts, exceptional food, 300 days of sunshine and a combination of quality and value that no destination within a four-hour flight comes close to matching.

But Turkey holidays are not one destination. The coastline stretches from the Aegean to the eastern Mediterranean, divided into distinct resort areas that feel and function very differently. The best all inclusive Turkey resorts in Belek have almost nothing in common with the boutique bays of Bodrum. The Antalya all inclusive mega-resorts of Lara are a world away from the pine-forested intimacy of Kemer. Turkey family resorts in Side with Roman ruins alongside the beach bear no resemblance to the nightlife-focused Turkey couples holidays in Marmaris.

This guide covers every major resort area in detail, compares them honestly, and tells you exactly who each one suits. Every assessment comes with first-hand input from Thomas, our Turkey Product Manager, who visits properties across Antalya, Bodrum and the Dalaman coast three to four times annually.

“I have visited Turkey’s resort areas more times than I can accurately count — Belek, Lara, Side, Kemer, Bodrum, Marmaris, Kusadasi. Every year I come back with the same conclusion: Turkey is the single best-value luxury all inclusive destination in the world for UK travellers. The food at the top Belek and Lara properties is genuinely extraordinary — I have eaten at five-star hotels across the Mediterranean, and the ultra all inclusive dining at Cullinan Belek or Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek is in a different category from anything you will find in Greece or Spain at a comparable price point.

My personal favourite destination for a luxury Turkey couples holiday is Bodrum — specifically the Titanic Luxury Collection in its private bay at Güvercinlik. For Turkey golf holidays, Belek is unmatched globally. For Turkey family resorts with everything in one place and a short airport transfer, Lara every time. And for guests who have never experienced Antalya all inclusive at its finest, I recommend Belek as the starting point: once you have been, you understand why it has the reputation it does.”

Thomas has personally inspected every hotel recommended in this guide.

Belek
Antalya province — Turkey’s luxury all inclusive capital
Golf Capital   5-Star Resorts

Belek is the undisputed centre of Turkey all inclusive holidays at the five-star level. Located 35 kilometres east of Antalya city, it is a purpose-built resort district set in Aleppo pine forests where internationally acclaimed hotels sit between the Taurus foothills and a long sandy beach. For the best all inclusive Turkey experience — food, facilities, service — there is nowhere else in the Mediterranean that competes.

Every major hotel in Belek operates an Antalya all inclusive ultra programme: all meals, unlimited drinks including premium imported spirits, multiple à la carte restaurants and full beach and pool access. Belek is also Turkey’s golf capital, with over 20 championship courses — including Cullinan Links, Cornelia, Gloria and Pasha — making it the world’s leading destination for Turkey golf holidays.

Thomas says: “Belek is where I take guests who want the absolute best all inclusive Turkey holiday. The food at Cullinan Belek is the finest I have eaten at any all inclusive property anywhere in the world — and I eat at a lot of them. If you have never done a proper luxury Turkey holiday in Belek, this is where you start.”

Hotels to consider: Cullinan Belek, Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek, Kaya Palazzo Golf Resort, Maxx Royal Belek.

Lara & Kundu
Antalya province — grand themed mega-resorts on the beach
Mega Resorts   Short Transfer

Lara and Kundu, immediately east of Antalya city, are home to Turkey’s most extraordinary Antalya all inclusive properties — enormous themed resorts built on an ambitious scale, each with its own long sandy beach, multiple pools, waterparks and extensive dining. The transfer from Antalya airport is the shortest on the entire coast at around 15 minutes, making Lara the most convenient base for Turkey all inclusive holidays of any destination in the country.

For Turkey family resorts, Lara is one of the most consistently recommended areas: large kids’ clubs, waterparks, direct sandy beaches and the full facilities of a grand all inclusive resort. The hotels here are characterised by their scale and visual ambition — none more so than Titanic Deluxe Lara, built in the shape of a cruise liner.

Thomas says: “For first-time Turkey all inclusive holidays, Lara is the easiest recommendation I make. Fifteen minutes from the airport, directly on the beach, with everything you need in one place. Titanic Deluxe Lara is one of the five best-selling hotels in the entire UK market for Turkey — and having visited many times, I understand exactly why.”

Hotels to consider: Titanic Deluxe Lara, Delphin Be Grand, Delphin Imperial.

Side
Eastern Antalya — Roman ruins meets long sandy beaches
History   Long Beach

Side is one of Turkey’s most distinctive resort destinations — a genuine ancient city, founded in the 7th century BC, built on a peninsula jutting into the Mediterranean. The Temple of Apollo, the Roman amphitheatre and the colonnaded main street sit directly alongside the beach hotels, restaurants and beach bars. Nowhere else in Turkey quite combines 2,700 years of history with a modern all inclusive beach holiday in the same immediate setting.

The beach at Side is Turkey’s second longest — a sweeping arc of fine golden sand stretching either side of the old town. The resort is noticeably more relaxed in pace than Belek or Lara: quieter, more atmospheric and considerably more characterful. All inclusive hotels here are very well-equipped, typically four and five stars, and represent excellent value for money. Side is one of GotoBeach’s most consistently booked Turkey destinations for guests wanting more than just a beach.

Hotels to consider: Barut Hemera, Barut Acanthus & Cennet, Crystal Sunset Luxury Resort.

Kemer
Western Antalya — pine mountains meeting turquoise bays
Natural Beauty   Intimate

Kemer sits at the foot of the Taurus Mountains in one of the most naturally spectacular settings of any resort in Turkey. The town and its surrounding villages — Beldibi, Camyuva, Goynuk and Tekirova — each occupy their own bay, backed by pine-forested peaks that rise sharply from the Mediterrranean shore. The sea here is exceptionally clear, the landscape is dramatic, and the overall atmosphere is more intimate and less resort-commercial than Belek or Lara.

Kemer is home to some of Turkey’s most luxurious boutique and all inclusive hotels, including the acclaimed Maxx Royal Kemer — consistently rated among the finest all inclusive properties in the world. The resort suits couples and guests who value natural beauty and a more secluded setting over the entertainment infrastructure of a large resort. A smart marina, good restaurants and easy access to boat trips along the coast add to the appeal.

Hotels to consider: Maxx Royal Kemer, Rixos Sungate, Club Med Palmiye.

Antalya City
The Turquoise Coast gateway — city culture and coastal access
City Break   300 Sunny Days

Antalya is Turkey’s Turquoise Coast capital — a city of 1.2 million people with a beautifully preserved old quarter (Kaleici), a Roman harbour, a clifftop promenade and over 300 days of sunshine per year. It functions both as a resort destination in its own right and as the gateway to all of the Antalya coast’s major resort areas. Antalya Airport (AYT) is Turkey’s busiest tourist airport and the arrival point for guests flying to Belek, Lara, Kundu, Side and Kemer alike.

Guests who base themselves in Antalya city rather than the resort strips get a genuinely different experience: the old town’s narrow streets, waterfall excursions to Düden and Kursunlu, the Antalya Museum (one of Turkey’s finest archaeological collections), and easy access to all the surrounding resort areas by taxi or hire car. Antalya combines well with a resort stay — a night or two in the city at the start or end of a Belek or Side holiday adds genuine depth to a Turkey trip.

Marmaris
Dalaman coast — lively marina town with stunning natural bays
Nightlife   Boat Trips

Marmaris sits at the point where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean, in a large natural bay of outstanding beauty backed by pine-forested hills. The town itself is a lively, well-established resort with one of the longest promenades in Turkey, a proper marina, a castle, excellent shopping and one of the liveliest bar streets in the country. It is a significantly more animated resort than Belek or Side — younger in demographic, busier in the evenings, and with a nightlife scene that extends well past midnight.

The surrounding area offers extraordinary variety: day trips by boat to the turquoise bays of the Bozburun peninsula, excursions to Dalyan and the famous Iztuzu Beach, Greek island day trips to Rhodes (just 45 minutes away), and white water rafting on the Dalaman River. For guests who want a beach holiday that also offers genuine evening life and excellent excursion options, Marmaris is one of Turkey’s best answers.

Bodrum
Aegean peninsula — Turkey’s most fashionable coastal destination
Boutique   Aegean Style

The Bodrum peninsula is Turkey’s most distinctive and sophisticated coastal destination — a finger of land jutting into the Aegean between the Greek islands of Kos and Kalymnos, lined with whitewashed villages, turquoise coves, boutique hotels and some of Turkey’s finest restaurants. For Turkey couples holidays with a boutique, romantic feel, Bodrum is the standout answer on the entire coast.

Bodrum town is anchored by the 15th-century Castle of St Peter and a working harbour around which the social life of the town revolves. The peninsula’s villages — Gümbüt, Turgutreis, Yalikavak, Güvercinlik — each have their own character. For luxury Turkey holidays with Aegean style, the Titanic Luxury Collection Bodrum in its private bay offers one of the finest all inclusive experiences in the country.

Thomas says: “Bodrum is my personal favourite destination for Turkey couples holidays. The Titanic Luxury Collection Bodrum in Güvercinlik bay is the hotel I find hardest to describe and easiest to recommend. There is a phrase in Turkish: not something to be described, something to be experienced. That is Bodrum. If you are looking for the most romantic luxury Turkey holiday available, this is the answer.”

Hotels to consider: Titanic Luxury Collection Bodrum, Voyage Torba, Lujo Hotel.

Kusadasi
Aegean coast — beach resort with world-class history on the doorstep
Ephesus   Aegean Sea

Kusadasi sits on Turkey’s northern Aegean coast, directly opposite the Greek island of Samos. It is a lively, well-established resort town with a long sandy beach, a busy harbour, good shopping and a wide range of hotels from budget to luxury — but its greatest asset is what surrounds it. The ancient city of Ephesus — one of the finest and best-preserved Roman cities in the world — is just 20 kilometres away, and a visit is among the most impressive cultural experiences available anywhere in Turkey.

The wider area offers extraordinary variety: the thermal pools of Pamukkale, the Greek island of Samos by ferry (1 hour), the Virgin Mary’s House near Ephesus, and the nearby resort of Didim with the Temple of Apollo at Didyma. For guests who want to combine a proper beach holiday with genuine cultural excursions, Kusadasi is one of Turkey’s best-positioned destinations.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the best place to stay in Turkey for a first-time visitor?

Lara and Belek are the two most reliable choices for first-time Turkey visitors. Both offer short airport transfers from Antalya (15 and 30 minutes respectively), outstanding all inclusive hotels, long sandy beaches and comprehensive facilities. Lara is particularly well-suited to guests who want the shortest possible transfer and maximum facilities in one place. Belek is the better choice for guests who prioritise food quality and five-star resort experience. Side is a strong alternative for first-timers who also want cultural sightseeing alongside the beach.

Which part of Turkey has the best beaches?

For long sandy beaches, Side (Turkey’s second longest beach), Lara and Belek are the standouts. For clear turquoise water and scenic coves, Kemer and Bodrum are outstanding. The Dalaman coast around Fethiye (including the Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz) is home to some of Turkey’s most dramatic and photographed beaches.

Is Belek or Lara better?

Both are excellent — the right choice depends on your priorities. Belek is the better choice for golfers, guests who prioritise food quality and five-star resort experience, and those who want access to Land of Legends. Lara is the better choice for guests who want the shortest airport transfer (15 minutes vs 30 minutes), grand themed mega-resort aesthetics, and the widest range of hotel sizes. Neither is objectively superior — they are different experiences at a similar price level.

Where should couples stay in Turkey?

For a boutique, romantic experience: Bodrum — private bays, whitewashed villages and Aegean style. For luxury all inclusive with a beautiful natural setting: Kemer (particularly Maxx Royal Kemer). For the finest dining and five-star service: Belek (Cullinan Belek or Titanic Luxury Collection Bodrum). All three are among Turkey’s best choices for couples.

Where in Turkey is best for families?

Lara and Belek lead for family all inclusive holidays — large pools, well-staffed kids’ clubs, direct sandy beaches and waterparks. Side is excellent for families who also want cultural sightseeing. Kusadasi suits families with older children who enjoy history and excursions like Ephesus and Pamukkale.

Which Turkey resort has the best nightlife?

Marmaris has Turkey’s liveliest bar and club scene in the resort areas covered in this guide — its bar street is one of the most active in the country. Bodrum offers a more sophisticated evening scene with rooftop bars and marina restaurants. Within the all inclusive resort context, Cullinan Belek’s Galapagos Beach Club and the Titanic Luxury Collection Bodrum’s beach party programme are the standout hotel entertainment options.

Do I need a visa for Turkey?

Yes. UK passport holders require an e-Visa for Turkey, which must be obtained online before travel at evisa.gov.tr. The process takes approximately 10 minutes and the e-Visa is valid for 90 days. Do not travel to Turkey without one — it cannot be obtained on arrival at the airport.

Is Turkey safe for holidays?

Yes — the tourist resort areas of Turkey covered in this guide are consistently assessed as safe for UK visitors. The UK Government’s foreign travel advice for Turkey draws a clear distinction between the main tourist coastal resorts — Antalya, Belek, Lara, Side, Kemer, Bodrum, Marmaris, Kusadasi — and the southeastern regions near the Syrian border, which are subject to travel restrictions. The resort areas on the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts have no such restrictions and are visited safely by millions of UK tourists each year. Thomas visits these areas three to four times annually on inspection trips and has never encountered a safety concern in the resort zones.

Which Turkey resort has the clearest sea?

Kemer and the Bodrum peninsula consistently have the clearest, most turquoise water of any Turkey resort area. Kemer’s small bays, backed by pine-forested mountains and sheltered from currents, offer exceptional water clarity — particularly at Moonlight Bay and the bays around Tekirova and Phaselis. Bodrum’s Aegean coves are similarly clear and vivid in colour. The Mediterranean beaches of Lara and Belek are clean and well-maintained but the water colour and clarity is less striking than the Aegean and western Mediterranean resorts.

Is Belek expensive?

Belek’s top properties — Cullinan Belek, Maxx Royal Belek and Kaya Palazzo Golf Resort — are premium-priced, typically ranging from £1,800 to £3,500+ per person for 7 nights all inclusive from the UK depending on the season. However, when you compare what that price includes — ultra all inclusive with premium spirits, multiple à la carte restaurants, championship golf courses, world-class spa facilities and 5-star rooms — the value is extraordinary relative to comparable properties in the Maldives, Caribbean or even Greece. Mid-range all inclusive Turkey holidays in Belek start from around £1,200–£1,600pp for 7 nights. Thomas’s view: Belek is not cheap, but it is exceptional value for what it delivers.

Which Turkey resort is hottest?

The eastern end of the Antalya coast — Side and Alanya — tends to be the hottest, with summer temperatures regularly reaching 36–40°C in July and August. Belek and Lara are similarly hot in peak summer. The Aegean resorts — Bodrum, Marmaris, Kusadasi — are warm but benefit from Aegean sea breezes that make them more comfortable in the hottest months. Kemer is cooled by its mountainous backdrop. For guests who find extreme heat difficult, May, June or September — when temperatures across all resorts sit at a more comfortable 26–30°C — are the ideal months.

Which area of Turkey is best for couples?

In Thomas’s assessment, the three best areas for Turkey couples holidays are: Bodrum for boutique romance in a stunning Aegean setting — staying in a private bay at a property like Titanic Luxury Collection Bodrum is one of the finest couple’s holiday experiences available from the UK; Kemer for natural beauty and intimacy, particularly at Maxx Royal Kemer where pine-forested mountains rise directly from the bay; and Belek (specifically Cullinan Belek) for couples who want the absolute finest luxury Turkey holiday in terms of food, service and resort quality. All three are significantly different experiences — the right choice depends on whether you prioritise style, scenery or pure luxury.
